Fire Fighter I/II Bridge Program

This course is based on NFPA 1010: Standard on Professional Qualifications for Firefighters, 2024 Edition. This is an entry-level bridge course for certified volunteer fire fighters who seek Fire Fighter I/II certification. This six-week course consists of a combination of classroom study, drill field practice, and training evolutions that prepare the fire fighters to perform most fire ground functions under the supervision of an officer or experienced fire fighter.

• PASS device
• Navy AFC t-shirts, navy AFC shorts, and navy AFC sweat suit (seasonal) for physical training,available at the Alabama Fire College Bookstore.

Physical Requirements - This is a physically demanding course which requires the student to be in good physical condition.

Pre-Requisites

• • Physical Statement - AFC & PSEC Form 05 - Per the Alabama Administrative Code (Chapter 360-X-1), This form must be completed and submitted prior to beginning any certification training leading to certification as a Fire Fighter or Volunteer Fire Fighter.
  • Successful completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within 12 months of start date
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate the English language
  • Prior to certification as a Fire Fighter I and II the student should complete the following:
    - Successful completion of the Comprehensive Final examination
    - Peer Support Awaresness course completion
    - NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800
    - Traffic Incident Management (TIMs) course completion
    - (Pro Board of IFSAC) Certified Hazardous Materials/WMD Awareness and Operations
