The goal of this course is to educate first responders on behavioral health issues in the emergency services. This course provides a basic overview of common behavioral health problems and available treatment options, information on balancing work and life stressors, and how to improve the behavioral health services offered in local departments. This course will prepare first responders to identify and offer assistance to fellow emergency responders in their home department or as part of a peer support team. Successful completion of this course is a requirement to become recognized as a peer support team member in the state of Alabama.
