Fire Instructor II

This course is based on NFPA 1041: Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications. The course is designed for the Fire Service Instructor who, in addition to meeting Instructor I qualifications, wants to develop the knowledge and ability to develop individual lesson plans for a specific topic including learning objectives, instructional aids, and evaluation instruments; schedule training sessions based on overall training plan of the authority having jurisdiction; and supervise and coordinate the activities of other instructors.
As of July 1, 2021, the Fire Instructor II course will change its course name to Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II. Prerequisites requirements will also change. Certification to the alternative certifications of EMS, Rescue and Public Safety Instructor will no longer be available. There is no book or course content change.

Alternative Certification:
Individuals not certified to the Fire Instructor I completing equivalent coursework as approved by the Commission are eligible for alternative certification under the following conditions:
Alabama state licensed Emergency Medical Technicians certified as EMS or Rescue Instructor I may be certified as EMS Instructor II.
Individuals certified as EMS or Rescue Instructor I and able to demonstrate particular competence in the area of rescue operations may be certified as Rescue Instructor II.
