RT: Rope I

This course is based on NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications. This course begins with an Introduction to Technical Rescue and goes into rope rescue techniques. The classroom portion includes a review of equipment, knots, and rope safety. Instruction events include: establishing need for rope rescue; uses and limitations of equipment; knot craft; safety aspects; anchoring systems; rescue rappelling; third man rescue; lowering systems; and other aspects of rope rescue.

Work gloves (climbing or leather work gloves)

Physical Requirements - This is a very physically demanding course which requires student to be in good physical condition.

Documented proof of Hazardous Materials First Responder training at the Awareness and Operations levels

Proof of course of instruction equivalent to or exceeding the DOT Medical First Responder OR Alabama issued Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter or Certified Fire Fighter I
