Fire Instructor I

This course is based on NFPA 1041: Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications. The course is designed for individuals who want to develop the knowledge and ability to deliver instruction effectively from a prepared lesson plan, including instructional aids and evaluation instruments. The Fire Instructor I will adapt lesson plans to the unique requirements of the students and the authority having jurisdiction, organize the learning environment so that learning is maximized, and meet the recordkeeping requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
As of July 1, 2021, the Fire Instructor I course will change its course name to Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I Prerequisites requirements will also change. Certification to the alternative certifications of EMS, Rescue and Public Safety Instructor will no longer be available. There is no book or course content change.

(Pro Board or IFSAC) Certified Fire Fighter I or Certified Volunteer Fire Fighter
Alternative Certification:
Individuals not certified to the Fire Fighter I or Volunteer Fire Fighter I level completing equivalent coursework as approved by the Commission are eligible for alternative certification under the following conditions:
Alabama State Licensed Emergency Medical Technicians may be certified as EMS Instructor I.
Individuals able to demonstrate particular competence in the area of rescue operations may be certified as Rescue Instructor I.
